With our local contacts we can arrange for after ride sports massages in house* by a ex-pro tour soigneur.

2019 Alps Training Camp Guest Review

I had a wonderful week of training with Alan and Tim of TTH and Kevin from Cycling Ascents. As I was slowly coming back to triathlon after a break in which I’d focused on cycling, the camp was mainly a starting point for me and all about building base fitness on the swim and run while getting to enjoy some of the best cycling.

The cycling was (obviously) fantastic, with endless routes up famous and lesser known climbs on excellent roads. The coaches did a good job giving pointers on how to approach climbs and also descents, with a main focus on long steady rides. The main highlight was definitely getting to see the Tour on the Galibier. Swimming in the local pool (c. 5 min from the accommodation) makes swimming in any ordinary pool quite dull, as the open air pool sits in the valley of the Alpe D’Huez and has a stunning view. Sets were personalised for each of us, with mine mainly focusing on building a base from which to restart my swimming. Running in the area was primarily on trails behind the accommodation, and again given my goals for the camp focused on getting some base miles under my feet.

My week wrapped up with the AdH short course triathlon (which still includes a climb up the 21 bends as part of the race), which was a perfect end to a week of getting back into triathlon training. Aside from training the accommodation is ideal - located in a quiet part of Bourg-d’Oisans, the house is a purpose built modern B&B with comfy beds and fantastic hosts! It’s definitely a camp with a heavier cycling focus than your typical training camp, but it was a fantastic experience with great coaches and great company. Overall, I’d highly recommend this training camp!

“ Superb week, well organised, awesome descending!  Many thanks  Kevin & Delphine“

Testimonials

“What can you say…Kevin and Delphine were perfect hosts, great food & accommodation.  Rides were brutal, unforgiving leg drainers, but epic in every way….monuments of cycling all completed during the week.  Rode with an amazing group of people…fantastic holiday“

Stu & Dave, 2017

“ Thank you so much for the hospitality. Had the most amazing time.  This is the first trip where I have forgotten everything about work.  A true holiday!“

Andy, 2017

“So much enjoyment was had for the days we were here.  The riding was fantastic, but equally important was the hospitality you showed us.  Everything was so perfect on our ‘trip of a lifetime’.  Thank you so much, hoping to return one day to ride more cols!”

Steve des Champs, August 2018

“Everything has been incredible, I am honoured and humbled you have welcomed us into your home.  You are amazing people and beyond hospitable!  Wow, I could not have expected such a wonderful time.  Kevin you have been the best cycle guide, your patience is remarkable.  Delphine thank you so much for the fantastic dinners and awesome wine and thank you for catering to my finicky eating habits.  It has been a great week!  Thank you!”
