You are here:
Les Balcons.....takes you along the side of the valley 400 metres above Bourg D’Oisans, from La Garde (6 bends up Alpe D’Huez) around to Le Freney D’Oisans. The road cuts right into the mountainside and gives great views up and down the valley, and also up the Vallee du Veneon. This ride could be extended a number of ways, either taking in an extra climb to Villard Reculas beforehand, or adding on the climb to Auris or Les Deux Alpes afterwards. The flexibility of this route makes it a good one if you need a little while in the saddle before knowing whether the legs are up for a big ride or not!
If you look closely at the picture above right you can see where the road travels round the sheer mountainside.
