Cycling Ascents provides cycling holidays in the French Alps, based in Bourg D’Oisans. We offer bed and breakfast or self catered accommodation at the foot of six valleys which offers the choice of many different cycling routes. There are many different rides possible from a quick loop round the valley (great for a warm up or if you just fancy a short ride then a coffee!).... all the way to some monstrous alpine ascensions suitable for a Tour de France stage (who of course often visit this part of the French Alps). There are easily enough rides to keep even the most hardcore of roadies happy for over a week. Another advantage of being at the junction of a number of valleys is that the days ride always ends with a downhill!
Of course Alpe D’Huez is only two minutes ride away from our accommodation, and no cycling holiday in the French Alps would be complete without a chance to test yourself against the times of Thibault Pinot or Geraint Thomas. If you are a little bit more old school, Marco Pantani, Lance Armstrong, or even Sheryl Crowe if you prefer!
The passes Col du Galibier, Col du Glandon & Croix de Fer are also within easy reach.
Not only will you have a great time biking in the Alps, getting to appreciate some wonderful scenery but you will likely go home fitter as well!
We offer guided riding (subject to availability) for no extra cost as part of the package - take advantage of our experience of living and riding in the area, and let us take you on routes to suit your ability. There are many amazing rides here that you may miss if you just go for the well known routes.
There are also a number of sporting events each year in or near to Bourg D’Oisans, including La Marmotte, Alpe D’Huzes, the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon, and more.
