You are here:
Col de la Morte..... not as bad as it sounds!! (translates to ‘Pass of the Dead’ in english!). This climb is longer and a little steeper than the Col D’Ornon. Often used as part of a 100km loop, it takes you through the village of Valbonnais to the back of the Col D’Ornon. If you want a bigger challenge you can detour up the Col du Parquetout, which features the steepest slopes in the area (up to 17% in places!).
This larger loop is the reverse of the first part of the ‘La Granfondo Les Deux Alpes’, (formerly known as the Marco Pantani Sportive) a 165km race held each August which takes in all of the climbs mentioned above before tackling part of Alpe D’Huez, then the final climb up to the ski resort of Les Deux Alpes.
